Are you planning a trip to Amsterdam? Whether you are planning for a fun weekend getaway, going for sightseeing, canal tour, interested in history or a lover of nature; Amsterdam is a unique city, which will give you an unforgettable experience all year round. I have spent the last 9 days in Amsterdam; there are so many things to do in Amsterdam, visiting the Museum Quarter, Heineken Experience, the Rijksmuseum, the National Monument, and the Stedelijk Museum of modern art; Amsterdam has continually surprised me with so many items to include in your itinerary. Amsterdam’s is full of fun ranging from impressive clubs, lively bars and vibrant nightlife coupled with the notorious Red Light District, a drug paradise for stoner backpackers. There is no shortage of what you can experience when you visit Amsterdam, the country’s leading cultural center. Here are some of my recommendations I will advise you do not miss when you visit this magnificent city of fascinating history.
Get involve in Canal Cruise:
Amsterdam is famous for its many canals, you can either go for a fascinating day cruise or a romantic night cruise. Take a trip with a boat by boarding one of the tourist cruises or by renting the boat yourself; either way, there is no better way to see the sights of Amsterdam than by boat. You will get to witness some of Amsterdam’s glorious attractions when touring any of the four main city center canals like Prinsengracht, Herengracht, Keizersgracht, and Singel. There are other canals in the city; each has its unique experience to offer you. Hold tight to your camera and I will advise for an extra battery because you just want to keep clicking. There are many cruises to choose from, the sightseeing cruise, the hop-on-hop-off canal bus, exotic dinner or candlelight cruise and many more. You can also decide to walk through the canal streets or still yet ride a bicycle around the canal streets.
Visit the city center The Dam square:
Dam Square is a square created in the 13th century, called the heart of Amsterdam, is one of the places in Amsterdam not possible to miss when you visit Amsterdam. The Dam Square is a straight walk for about 10 minutes from the Central Station. Around the square are overwhelming sights you really should see like National Monument at the Dam, on the east side of the Dam Square Amsterdam; Royal Palace Amsterdam, on the west side of The Dam Square Amsterdam; Nieuwe Kerk (New Church), On the north side of the Dam Square Amsterdam; and more. The Dam square should be on the uppermost of your list of places you, surely need to see and a superb place to start a day of fun.
Get lost in the famous Flower Market:
Sited on the Singel canal, the Flower Market is a floating flower market, only in Amsterdam. The Flower market is a wondrous colorful place to wander around in the morning and maybe later in the evening. There are a variety of flowers to find here like tulips, narcissus, roses, and Christmas trees, bulbs and more; the various types of flowers vary by season. Besides flowers, a number of the shops also sell beautiful Dutch souvenirs. A charming place for me, if you love beautiful background pictures.
Explore Amsterdam’s best Museums:
Amsterdam homes more than 400 museums, each having a unique experience to offer you. You can’t tour all the museums over a week, so these are picks I find very interesting and you should check out on your first visit to Amsterdam.
